Tilly:

Hello lovelies, and welcome to this week's episode where we're

2

:

going to be talking about all things

weaning and what babies scoff in,

3

:

and she is a good scoffer, as well as

how we plan to tackle big transition

4

:

from our bedroom to her own bedroom.

5

:

Stay tuned.

6

:

Dan 1: Good morning everyone.

7

:

Tilly: Good morning.

8

:

Good morning's.

9

:

The morning.

10

:

Dan 1: Yeah, so I think Tilly's

gonna be bringing the energy.

11

:

This is about as much energy as you're

getting from me and it'll slowly

12

:

fade off throughout the episode.

13

:

Tilly: They're both pretty this week, so

we'll get, we'll get into wine a bit, but

14

:

I had my night off last night, so Iven

15

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

16

:

Tilly: just,

17

:

Dan 1: By night off she means

as in she got to sleep in the

18

:

spare room and I had baby.

19

:

Tilly: Bring in for feed during the.

20

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

21

:

How's your camera now?

22

:

Oh, this is the problem

23

:

Tilly: I always end it.

24

:

Dan 1: You can't really remember

where things start and end.

25

:

Tilly: Ha ha ha ha ha ha Yeah, I'm

not very good at staying still.

26

:

But yeah, how's your week been?

27

:

Let's jump into it.

28

:

I

29

:

Dan 1: How's my week been?

30

:

I it's been alright.

31

:

You tell me, how have I been?

32

:

Tilly: think you felt better.

33

:

You've definitely felt less down

34

:

Dan 1: Yeah, so,

35

:

Tilly: and less overwhelmed this week.

36

:

Dan 1: are just to do with trying

to create routine with the baby,

37

:

which is actually impossible to do.

38

:

And so I just gave up and let the baby

control what, what time she fucking

39

:

wanted to sleep, and I just decided

that I was going to make sure that

40

:

I had whatever I wanted to do near

enough that if she fell asleep, I

41

:

Crack on with those things rather than

trying to structure them at times.

42

:

So yeah, surrender is the key.

43

:

Surrender.

44

:

Tilly: Yeah.

45

:

I do also think, like, I know you

obviously can get a baby into a routine,

46

:

you can do it but it's a lot of work and

you have to like, like sacrifice not doing

47

:

other things while getting them into a

routine, same with most things with the

48

:

baby, but also, I think it's okay if

they're not in a routine now because once

49

:

she's in going to nursery she's going

to have to be in a routine, she'll be

50

:

in a forced routine once it starts, so.

51

:

It's a couple of months of not

being routine, right, the rest of

52

:

her life is going to be routine.

53

:

I think whatever's easiest at this stage.

54

:

Dan 1: Morning, I nearly succumbed.

55

:

I nearly broke the emergency

glass, and she woke up at half

56

:

five and I was tired as fuck.

57

:

I was so close

58

:

Tilly: Going downstairs

59

:

Dan 1: to going downstairs and

just whacking Dancing Fruit on.

60

:

I was there like, she doesn't

Here's the normal dance we do.

61

:

And then I found our little,

our little swirly light thing.

62

:

And that just gave me half an hour

to just, you know, when you do that,

63

:

it's kind of, when you wake up in

deep sleep, and if you kind of like,

64

:

roll around with your eyes closed a

bit, eventually, you'll You kind of,

65

:

uh, are awake, as it were, at six.

66

:

Tilly: time.

67

:

Dan 1: And so she, that gave me half an

hour and then she started just kicking me.

68

:

Just kicking me loads.

69

:

And I was like, okay, fine, fair enough.

70

:

I can get up now.

71

:

Just so fucking tired, love.

72

:

When it comes around at like

five, I'm like, No, I can, I can

73

:

go till nine, if you'll let me.

74

:

But also, it's not like I'm, it's not

like I've got, When I used to wake up

75

:

at five, I had a plan to go do things.

76

:

Now I just wake up and it's like, I'm

just gonna be, do you know what I mean?

77

:

Just got to be awake.

78

:

I'm not gonna do anything.

79

:

I'm just now awake.

80

:

And so there's no, there's no sense of

urgency, there's no sense of purpose.

81

:

You're just awake and you're tired.

82

:

So you're like, why am I awake and tired?

83

:

Yeah, yeah,

84

:

Tilly: You know, quick shop.

85

:

Alright, okay, let's open the curtains.

86

:

Let's go for a walk.

87

:

I think once you've done that you're like

cool my day's begun and it's fine, I think

88

:

Dan 1: but I, I, I think I've not, I'm

not as A weight as a make out, even when

89

:

I used to get up at 5 and go do things,

90

:

Tilly: No, you're

91

:

Dan 1: would still take me a while.

92

:

Like I'd get to the gym and I'd spend

20 minutes taking a shit, just because,

93

:

so I'd get to the gym for 5, but I'd

be on the loo for 20 minutes being

94

:

like, ugh, am I ready to go do this?

95

:

Alright, let's go do this.

96

:

And then I'll go do my workout.

97

:

But, irrespective of, I'm happy

to get up early, but it usually

98

:

takes me about half an hour to

adjust to the fact that I'm mobile.

99

:

You're trying to be in the video.

100

:

You're not meant to be

in the video, baby girl.

101

:

Oh, you're a cheeky

102

:

Tilly: I want to be a star, daddy.

103

:

Dan 1: munchkin.

104

:

Let's get you a little

Mexican wrestling mask,

105

:

Tilly: Auntie Erin's gonna

get you a bottle of coffee.

106

:

A

107

:

Dan 1: so yeah, I think this

week's been pretty good.

108

:

I mean let's see, let me think.

109

:

Monday, yeah, I think

Monday was very good.

110

:

Tuesday was pretty good.

111

:

Wednesday, did anything happen on

112

:

Tilly: of coffee.

113

:

Dan 1: you were in work.

114

:

Again, day was fine.

115

:

I think I, I mean, I am, I am happy

to see you when you come back,

116

:

because I'm like, yeah, she can now

just sit on the boob and I can go

117

:

into another room and do something.

118

:

And then, yeah, Thursday, Mum was

round, Friday, yeah, I think it

119

:

was all, Friday was a bit harder,

because I was trying to do.

120

:

I did have things that I needed to do,

and so it was harder to just succumb

121

:

to her, surrender to her routine.

122

:

Because it was like, well I need to cook,

because I was, I was having a, I was going

123

:

over to a friend's and we were cooking,

all just cooking different dishes.

124

:

And so I was there trying to

125

:

Tilly: That's the

126

:

Dan 1: certain things, and

she was just like, nah, I need

127

:

you to pay attention to me.

128

:

And I was like, no mate,

129

:

Tilly: I'm doing

130

:

Dan 1: You're meant to be asleep, are

we going to have to pause this, go

131

:

for a dog walk and then come back?

132

:

So yeah, how's your week been?

133

:

Tilly: I think it's been better.

134

:

It's still, again, as we say every week.

135

:

We're not in a routine that one.

136

:

But I think we finally thought of a good

plan that's actually going to work for us.

137

:

Time wise, like, getting up at 6

rather than trying to get up at 5 6.

138

:

And I just go, just palm her

off straight away, aren't you?

139

:

Dan 1: Yeah,

140

:

Tilly: And then I'm back by half

seven and we just go straight for the

141

:

walk so I can start work by eight.

142

:

Well sometimes I might be back

earlier than half seven but,

143

:

you know, I definitely will

be able to start it by eight.

144

:

Dan 1: yeah

145

:

Tilly: Then, it means at the end of

the day, rather than me then being

146

:

like, cool, I'm going to the gym

now, I can just take her from you.

147

:

Because by that point, you tend to be

looking like you're pretty much done.

148

:

And then you can have an hour or

whatever you need to do some bits.

149

:

Like, podcast or whatever, before

starting, like, before starting art,

150

:

sort of like, doing dinner and things.

151

:

Dan 1: Yes, I'd like to say I think

probably all our friends ask us

152

:

What's it like, you know, how's your

life changed since having a kid?

153

:

Most of the time, I'm like, it

doesn't, there's very little

154

:

that I'm actually bothered by,

but I think routine is a fucker.

155

:

We've gone from, we've gone from being

able to completely dictate our time, to

156

:

just being like, Okay, I want to do these

things, but give up, let go, surrender,

157

:

fuck it, it's not happening, move on.

158

:

Tilly: this house is all on wage.

159

:

Because it's not how it used to be.

160

:

Dan 1: Productivity in this household

has fallen way down Because it's like it

161

:

used to be that you would do something

and I would do something so you could be

162

:

cooking and I could Be you know doing a

dog pick doing I don't know the dishwasher

163

:

or whatever Yeah, but now it's like one of

us has the large to be looking after her

164

:

Maybe trying to do something on the side,

165

:

Tilly: fall, which is

166

:

Dan 1: So much slower.

167

:

Tilly: think

168

:

Dan 1: and then,

169

:

Tilly: has yet to have

170

:

Dan 1: So yeah, household productivity

has fallen through the floor.

171

:

So that's, that's I

think my biggest lesson.

172

:

For anybody who has yet to have a

baby and keeps asking me, what is

173

:

the thing that you miss the most?

174

:

Time management.

175

:

That's what I miss.

176

:

Tilly: Or just outsource what you

can't, like, get a cleaner get a cook,

177

:

basically if you're rich you're fine.

178

:

Get a nanny,

179

:

Dan 1: a nanny.

180

:

Outsource that too.

181

:

Tilly: it Victorian style, just kiss

them goodnight, and get on with the day.

182

:

Dan 1: Give them a kiss good morning.

183

:

Wish them a lovely day.

184

:

Give them a kiss good night.

185

:

Yeah.

186

:

Yeah.

187

:

Tilly: But I think, I think, like you,

I've sort of hit a level now where

188

:

I'm sort of like, This is it now.

189

:

I'm done with sort of fighting it.

190

:

So I'm trying to figure out what

I can do to work along with it.

191

:

So like, trying to like, so again,

figuring out the routine that

192

:

actually just disrupts her flow

basically as little as possible.

193

:

So actually that she's really

chill and happy first thing in the

194

:

morning, so that's quite a good

time for me to leave her with you.

195

:

Because she's all like happy

and like la la la la la.

196

:

And then in the evening when she is

like, tetchy, being like, Okay, well

197

:

we know that's not a good time for

me to try and leave and do something.

198

:

Because I can't because she's upset and

you're very much done with it, and you're

199

:

trying to do things, and you're sort of

done with trying to not do things around

200

:

her, so she'll just let her cry out.

201

:

Well, no, it's not me.

202

:

They were just against it.

203

:

You'll just, you're done.

204

:

Dan 1: Yeah,

205

:

Tilly: Um, It's Ok, well let's

not try and fight that, let's be

206

:

like ok how can we work with this?

207

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

208

:

Tilly: So it is accepting.

209

:

All right.

210

:

Yeah, But this weeks been alright.

211

:

Yeah But then we've had a sort of

shit time when it comes to pets

212

:

in our life this weekend, we?

213

:

Yeah, videos.

214

:

Let's find out, eh?

215

:

Dan 1: so, three, so your, your best

friend Erin, her cat's gone missing.

216

:

Tilly: know, little Greg.

217

:

Hopefully by now Greg's been found.

218

:

Dan 1: Dog,

219

:

Tilly: Yeah, Sidley, has, well

we don't know what's wrong,

220

:

he's not been eating for a week.

221

:

He's been vomiting loads, and the thing

is his liver was pancreas, and it possibly

222

:

could be cancer because they found a mass.

223

:

And so he's currently on anti nausea

medication and some strong antibiotics

224

:

to see if that does anything, and

if it doesn't then we'll just see.

225

:

Tackle comes next, but

Sid is like mum's bubba,

226

:

Dan 1: yeah

227

:

Tilly: they're very very attached.

228

:

So, I really hope it's the next one.

229

:

And then, your family dog.

230

:

Yeah, your mum's Koby.

231

:

He's 14

232

:

Dan 1: Koby, my dog.

233

:

Dog that we got, how old was I, I

don't know, I think I was like 12?

234

:

I must have been more, I must

have been, I think I was 16, I

235

:

Tilly: 16.

236

:

Dan 1: think I was younger than 16.

237

:

Tilly: How old is Koby?

238

:

You're 30.

239

:

Dan 1: tortoises that

240

:

Tilly: you,

241

:

Dan 1: how old they are.

242

:

He's just like that.

243

:

I don't think I

244

:

Tilly: what were you doing?

245

:

Were you at school?

246

:

Or were you at 6th form?

247

:

Dan 1: was in sixth form yet.

248

:

Tilly: Fuck me, he's really fucking old.

249

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

250

:

Tilly: So he's like 15 years old.

251

:

I don't know, I was

252

:

Dan 1: was, I was doing my GCSEs,

253

:

Tilly: GCSE.

254

:

Okay, so he's probably like

14, still 14, he's fucking old.

255

:

Did you play Labrador?

256

:

No,

257

:

Dan 1: I was doing my GCSEs, because

I remember I was on study days

258

:

for my GCSEs when we first got

him as a puppy and so I would be

259

:

Tilly: he'd need like

260

:

Dan 1: sat studying in the

living room to be downstairs

261

:

to, to try and help train him.

262

:

Yeah, I wasn't very good at studying,

263

:

Tilly: try

264

:

Dan 1: And

265

:

Tilly: so

266

:

Dan 1: he,

267

:

Tilly: it, and

268

:

Dan 1: get bored as puppies do because

they need, They need frequency, they

269

:

need like five minutes very regularly of

attention, like play and stuff like that.

270

:

They get tired very quickly, but they get

amped up and restore energy very quickly.

271

:

And so that's not very conducive to

trying to learn and study, because every

272

:

20 minutes you're meant to be sort of

playing with them for five minutes.

273

:

And so he just used to, I'll be

there reading my books, he used to

274

:

just run through, and And just look

dead at me, and piss on the carpet,

275

:

Tilly: and run away.

276

:

Dan 1: I'm like, fuck sake, okay mate.

277

:

so yeah, he's pretty old.

278

:

He might

279

:

Tilly: So he's had very good innings.

280

:

Dan 1: but he's yeah, he's had

some sort of a stroke like thing.

281

:

so he's currently at an

emergency vet, they've been there

282

:

overnight, they've stabilized him.

283

:

But I don't, I don't know

how much, that's what's next.

284

:

But uh, unfortunately so.

285

:

Tilly: No, I think his end is nigh.

286

:

Dan 1: Unfortunately so.

287

:

Tilly: So we were just looking

at Fatty yesterday and we're

288

:

like, don't you fucking dare.

289

:

You better be fine.

290

:

Because I'm not dealing with a fourth pet.

291

:

He's very solid.

292

:

Dan 1: The more worry

is that he'd get stolen.

293

:

I

294

:

Tilly: Yeah.

295

:

Dan 1: it's the rest of him.

296

:

Or he'd just run off after a squirrel.

297

:

Tilly: Yeah, I mean, when he's

locked at home, I'm not worried about

298

:

Dan 1: Exactly, he's got,

he's got a high chase drive.

299

:

So it's likely he'd lose him

to a pheasant or some shit.

300

:

Tilly: Yeah.

301

:

But we've had lots of fun

weaning this week, haven't we?

302

:

Yeah.

303

:

So Bubs is starting to eat a bit

more now, a bit more regularly.

304

:

So we're sort of just

trying little tidbits.

305

:

We're still trying to do an evening

meal together and then sort of,

306

:

she might have like, try a little

snacks with her during the day.

307

:

So she absolutely loves chewing on a

spring onion, which is a pretty strong

308

:

bold flavor, but it's meant to be

quite good for their teething pain.

309

:

She bloody loved a bit of

dried mango, didn't she?

310

:

Dan 1: Yeah, so dried fruits

are brilliant for winning.

311

:

Babies love them.

312

:

But, parents, beware.

313

:

Tilly: just kind of sucks and

314

:

Dan 1: Dried mango especially.

315

:

So, she holds it in her hand,

and she just kind of sucks and

316

:

sucks on it, and gnaws on it.

317

:

So she sucks and gnaws.

318

:

So obviously the gnawing will

be very nice for her teeth.

319

:

And as she gnaws, she'll release lots of

flavor, but she drools at the same time.

320

:

So she starts just rehydrating

321

:

Tilly: start to

322

:

Dan 1: the mango,

323

:

Tilly: with her finger,

324

:

Dan 1: and then it becomes really slimy.

325

:

And so she'll then suck, and she'll suck

it out of her hand, into her throat.

326

:

So you've then just got to be ready

to just plunge in with your finger,

327

:

just try and pull this mango out.

328

:

Yeah.

329

:

Tilly: she's feeding herself just because

for us we think it's more interesting, a

330

:

bit more, you know, different textures.

331

:

I wouldn't want to eat puree all the time

so I see probably baby wouldn't either.

332

:

But we know obviously a lot of parents

get worried when they do this with a

333

:

young baby because there is more risk,

there is a high risk of choking obviously.

334

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

335

:

Tilly: But I think as long as you're

there and watching her it's fine.

336

:

But basically because she

loves dried fruits which I then

337

:

went out with her on Friday.

338

:

I bought like a selection of dried fruits.

339

:

So she's now got big dried pears

which went down really well.

340

:

She loves the dried pears.

341

:

The whole half of the pear dried.

342

:

Fully dried bananas but

not like the crispy ones.

343

:

They're like chewy but they're

whole ones which is quite

344

:

good for her to hold I think.

345

:

They look disgusting.

346

:

They look absolutely minging.

347

:

They look like a dog treat sort of thing.

348

:

So we've not tried them out yet.

349

:

And she's got the apple, like, little

chewy apple rings and that sort of stuff.

350

:

So it's all, it's all

fun and games, isn't it?

351

:

She had a bit of omelette today.

352

:

Maybe we'll try some

Porridge later, but who knows

353

:

Dan 1: can move on to Bwesson, can't she?

354

:

Other

355

:

Tilly: buy some super

356

:

Dan 1: Monshed,

357

:

Tilly: a mass of meat in this house.

358

:

We don't eat masses of meat

359

:

Dan 1: don't think

360

:

Tilly: car meat, pocket meat Obviously

any meat we want to compare with, we want

361

:

to make sure it's like a good quality

and we realize that's you know That's

362

:

a very privileged thing to say like

we're lucky enough to be able to buy a

363

:

good piece of meat every now and again

364

:

Dan 1: can,

365

:

Tilly: Yeah, exactly

366

:

Dan 1: Like if we ate meat for every

367

:

Tilly: We'd have to buy shitty meat Yeah,

368

:

Dan 1: you buy a lot

less, you can buy a lot

369

:

Tilly: yeah, so we found a good

butcher that we're going to go to

370

:

and just get us some like, organic

grass fed, all that sort of stuff.

371

:

Dan 1: Spuffler baby girl?

372

:

Tilly: I was thinking, if it wasn't so

high in salt, something like jerky or

373

:

biltong would be quite nice to chew on.

374

:

Dan 1: Well, we can make it ourselves as a

375

:

Tilly: But it needs salt, doesn't it?

376

:

That's part of the curing process.

377

:

Dan 1: No, I don't

378

:

Tilly: No?

379

:

Dan 1: so.

380

:

No, because the first time I made

it, I didn't, I didn't use any soil.

381

:

I didn't make it very well, I

literally just dried silverside

382

:

Tilly: Maybe we'd look into it then,

because I think that could be quite a

383

:

nice texture again for her to chew on.

384

:

Dan 1: to the liver kings, see

what the fuck he's gonna say.

385

:

Tilly: There's also the

386

:

Dan 1: Do you want some,

do you want some liver?

387

:

Tilly: Dried liver?

388

:

Mmm.

389

:

Fatty would be like, give it to

390

:

Dan 1: Give

391

:

Tilly: me the dried liver!

392

:

Dan 1: liver!

393

:

prostate.

394

:

Tilly: the one thing they do

need from six months is iron.

395

:

Everything else they're still getting

from the breast milk, but the one

396

:

Dan 1: Liver.

397

:

Liver.

398

:

You're going to be a liver baby.

399

:

Tilly: baby.

400

:

Dan 1: baby!

401

:

Tilly: We'll get you, like, dragon

402

:

Dan 1: Liver baby!

403

:

Yeah, you're going to be a liver baby!

404

:

Tilly: you dragon tires.

405

:

We'll get you super tanned.

406

:

Dan 1: Draw on a six pack.

407

:

Tilly: Yeah.

408

:

so yeah, more fun and games.

409

:

Dan 1: Get you on the roids.

410

:

You're

411

:

Tilly: I mean, she's got roids.

412

:

Dan 1: Oh yeah, Brassmelt.

413

:

Double

414

:

Tilly: Growth hormone.

415

:

Pumping it into her

already, don't you worry.

416

:

Oh, I've got a breast which is

like, holding itself up boobies.

417

:

What else this week?

418

:

Has anything happened?

419

:

Oh yeah, she's been sleeping in her

own room, that's quite a big one.

420

:

So, yeah, we've finally got her

like, cot ready and she's at a

421

:

place now we think, oh she's ready

to start moving into her own room.

422

:

So we're now putting her down in her cot

in her room each night, and she's about

423

:

seven ish and she tends to stay there

pretty well, till about nine, half nine.

424

:

Then she needs another feed and

an appetiter, then she tends to

425

:

go down until around two most

nights, but then two onwards.

426

:

Just not having it.

427

:

From two till like we get up at six.

428

:

She doesn't really want to be off here.

429

:

She's much more clingy for

430

:

Dan 1: we don't, we won't spend

as much time settling her.

431

:

Like obviously, up until

nine, we're awake anyway.

432

:

And so we're willing to

sort of, spend half an hour

433

:

getting her into a deep sleep.

434

:

Whereas like, you alright over there?

435

:

Or is it like two in the morning?

436

:

You're not there like, oh, I'll

just stay up for half an hour

437

:

Tilly: Also, I'd ever I don't have much

time Like, concept of time at that point.

438

:

So I don't like looking at

my phone because I don't

439

:

want to have all the screen

440

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

441

:

Tilly: of just going, I

fed her, she's asleep.

442

:

I feel like she's been

asleep for quite a while.

443

:

But she might not have

actually been asleep that long.

444

:

I might have just felt

like a long time, too many.

445

:

Dan 1: Because I've found, like, when

I, some nights, when I take her, if

446

:

I do just wake up, and just go on my

phone for like half an hour, 45 minutes,

447

:

and let her sleep in my arms, It used

to be able to transition into the next

448

:

Tilly: Hmm.

449

:

Dan 1: me.

450

:

Obviously I absolutely fuck my sleep

because then my body is completely

451

:

awake too and I've got to re go through

that kind of, you know, removing the

452

:

blue light from my system process and

stuff like that and it means that you

453

:

have an absolutely shit second half of

454

:

Tilly: Which basically what we

need to do is be better people and

455

:

like, read a book, wear red light.

456

:

At that time.

457

:

Dan 1: to stay awake reading.

458

:

Tilly: It's actually

459

:

Dan 1: especially red, like

460

:

Tilly: to do it on

461

:

Dan 1: your eyes open

462

:

Tilly: own than to do

463

:

Dan 1: You need to just get

up and do some press ups,

464

:

Tilly: own.

465

:

You have to just get like, do

some squats and then hold her.

466

:

Hold her.

467

:

But just something doesn't quite sit

right with us yet about doing it.

468

:

I think we're getting to that stage

where we're sort of Yeah, I think we need

469

:

Dan 1: I think we need to

470

:

Tilly: that we do it in

471

:

Dan 1: work out when, because You've

got to accept that, you know, there's

472

:

going to be a weekend, or a longer, like

a long weekend of pretty shit sleep.

473

:

And just make sure that we do

it in the way that's least,

474

:

you know, impinging as it were.

475

:

Because, like, obviously there's

varying degrees of ignoring.

476

:

Like, some people just

don't go in the room.

477

:

Let the baby completely cry and just

like watch them on the monitor and other

478

:

people will go into the room, look at

the baby, walk straight out, make sure

479

:

the baby's seen them, then they walk out.

480

:

Other people will go in, will talk to

the baby, other people will go in, touch

481

:

the baby, but like, the main rules, don't

pick up the baby, but obviously there

482

:

are all these other like, steps, that

reassure, but slow your baby's progress.

483

:

Tilly: Also, I think like,

you know, difference in your

484

:

baby's cries by this stage.

485

:

So like the other night when she

woke up, she was making noises

486

:

and stuff, but she wasn't, she

clearly wasn't in a distress cry.

487

:

Dan 1: yeah.

488

:

Tilly: She said, well, and then

sort of, we decided we'd go pick

489

:

her up anyway after a while.

490

:

And then I then sort of realized off that

was a mistake done that shoulda left.

491

:

Dan 1: But that's the other thing,

we probably need to speak to our

492

:

neighbours, and just be like,

493

:

Tilly: Yeah, I definitely

think we should do that.

494

:

We should,

495

:

Dan 1: we should, yeah, we should

try and speak to them this weekend

496

:

or next week, and just sort of say

that next weekend, there's going

497

:

Tilly: You're going to

hear a lot of crying.

498

:

I apologize.

499

:

Dan 1: a war on sleep.

500

:

Tilly: I'd like to know, does that

sort of have another house mobile?

501

:

Just maybe go to your other house,

502

:

Dan 1: Yeah, just go to your London

503

:

Tilly: or put some earplugs in.

504

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

505

:

Tilly: And the

506

:

Dan 1: And the other thing that we've

realised is, we have incredible privilege

507

:

in that we have a spare bedroom, so.

508

:

We can divide and conquer, and,

because we've got, you know, she's

509

:

got two parents, she's lucky enough in

510

:

Tilly: I will definitely need earplugs

though, because when she's crying

511

:

downstairs, I can't speak to her.

512

:

Dan 1: I know, but what I

mean is, one of us can do

513

:

Tilly: We can tag team each night, yeah.

514

:

One of us that knows, you know,

515

:

Dan 1: know, we can work

out how we want to do it.

516

:

So, because it might, because it might

be that we decide either night on, night

517

:

off, or we might do, like, The first

part one of us takes because we know

518

:

she sleeps and then the second part

the other one takes and we switch the

519

:

next night because it's the second part

that's the issue, it's not the first

520

:

Tilly: Yeah, yeah.

521

:

No,

522

:

Dan 1: 2 and then you were 2 till 8.

523

:

Tilly: I'd stay, I'd do the

first half of the night.

524

:

Dan 1: yeah.

525

:

And I'd get up at 2, 3 in the

526

:

Tilly: You were struggling to stay

awake late enough, so I'd stay awake.

527

:

Yeah, I think maybe this week I discuss

with work, is there a point coming up in

528

:

the next few weeks where I can take like

a Monday, like a Friday and a Monday off?

529

:

Dan 1: Yeah

530

:

Tilly: because, Although I could

work, I'm probably not going to be

531

:

particularly productive on those

532

:

Dan 1: with your mum taking her on

Thursday night, it's probably best that

533

:

Tilly: of Sid.

534

:

So we're going to play this.

535

:

It's unlikely, I think, that it'll

happen this week because of Sid.

536

:

Maybe we just need to do

some napping during this as

537

:

Dan 1: night, obviously, she's going

to be all After the first night, she's

538

:

going to be really fucking tired.

539

:

And so, if we can go into it, if we

can farm off the first night I'll just

540

:

be fucking rejuvenated because she's

not been there so we slept like a log.

541

:

She comes into it tired, we come

into it fucking fighting fresh.

542

:

We're winning the battle.

543

:

But the worry is the wall of attrition.

544

:

She sleeps during the day, we don't.

545

:

So she needs to be on the back foot.

546

:

We're so bad at it, love.

547

:

And again, it's really hard for us

because she doesn't have any routine.

548

:

You and I, to go to sleep, we need to do

things, we need to like, set the place

549

:

up so we can go to sleep, like we need

to go close curtains, we need to, you

550

:

Tilly: We can sort of make

her sleep at certain times.

551

:

Like we know when she's getting tired.

552

:

We said we get okay, she's getting tired.

553

:

Let's go upstairs, shut the

curtains, we'll get into bed.

554

:

We could do that

555

:

Dan 1: Yeah.

556

:

Tilly: because is normally so we're like,

okay, well let's just get some stuff done.

557

:

And then like being on the so forth

her or something, I said we could just

558

:

accept that we're not gonna get, we're

gonna get shit all done for four days.

559

:

Like, pre made meals.

560

:

Get it all.

561

:

Let's set ourselves

562

:

Dan 1: war on sleep.

563

:

Tilly: Yeah!

564

:

Dan 1: As that American

guy likes to call it.

565

:

Team no sleep!

566

:

Tilly: on my hand?

567

:

But that's what we're sort

of gearing up for, isn't it?

568

:

Come on!

569

:

But to be fair to her, like, staying

in the room, with one feet in the

570

:

middle, but from seven till two,

by herself, is still a massive

571

:

step from what she has been doing.

572

:

So she's doing really well.

573

:

Dan 1: Yeah, she's doing great.

574

:

Tilly: we had a fun bathroom yesterday,

you heard a boy's gone out on Friday.

575

:

Boi, boi.

576

:

And

577

:

Dan 1: doing a party.

578

:

It's 30.

579

:

Tilly: really wasn't a girls

night, she went to bed at half

580

:

six, so it was just me by myself.

581

:

But, you know, I had a nice takeaway.

582

:

And she'll

583

:

Dan 1: without Zolo.

584

:

Tilly: Yeah.

585

:

And then she woke up super early, like

five o'clock she was up on a Saturday.

586

:

So we was like, I was like, cool,

let's get up and clean the bathroom.

587

:

So we cleaned the bathroom and had

a, and had a bubble bath together.

588

:

Dan 1: And she drank a lot of that water.

589

:

Tilly: And not a lot, not a lot.

590

:

She did it a couple times and I was

like, okay, let's just lift you out a

591

:

Dan 1: very deep, it was like up

592

:

Tilly: I forgot how much it

would go up when I got in.

593

:

So I put her in it and then got

in the bathroom and, oh yeah, I

594

:

displaced quite a lot of water.

595

:

But she wasn't in that

seat most of the time.

596

:

Most of the time she was on me and we

were just playing with the toys together.

597

:

It was just like when I

was getting her in and out.

598

:

Dan 1: go in Because the problem was,

599

:

Tilly: Yeah.

600

:

So we've also got, I don't know if

you can tell, a hole in the bathroom.

601

:

We need

602

:

Dan 1: you'd fill a whole bath when you

actually only needed like A third of it to

603

:

be, well less, like a quarter of it to be

604

:

Tilly: So it's

605

:

Dan 1: And so we've got a cement bucket

now, that's like a 72 litre cement

606

:

bucket, that we can fill the water in it.

607

:

And that's better for our hot water,

because we don't actually have enough

608

:

hot water to fill like a whole bath.

609

:

I don't really have it on that long.

610

:

Yeah, you've got to kind of put

the hot water on for like half

611

:

an hour before you can have

612

:

Tilly: hot water on.

613

:

but we had fun still.

614

:

so yeah.

615

:

I was pretty tired yesterday,

you were pretty tired after

616

:

your lads night on the dinner.

617

:

Dan 1: Yeah,

618

:

Tilly: And then we had fun

travelling around, seeing

619

:

Dan 1: families with their ailing pets.

620

:

Tilly: Yeah, so we helped Aaron

post up, you know, posters.

621

:

For wee Greg, and then

we went to see your mum.

622

:

And today we're seeing your auntie.

623

:

Dan 1: Hi guys, thank you

very much for listening.

Enjoy the rest of the episode

638

:

Tilly: She said some weird poos.

639

:

Let's just chat about her scats.

640

:

I think that's enough.

641

:

Dan 1: okay.

642

:

We'll have to try and, we'll

have to work hard to try

643

:

Tilly: I mean, we can talk

about how gross they were.

644

:

That's fucking

entertaining, quite frankly.

645

:

Skiddly

646

:

Dan 1: a good scat chat.

647

:

Tilly: up, bah, scat Do you

648

:

Dan 1: being on shared parental leave, i.

649

:

e.

650

:

me being the primary caregiver,

not the sole, as I keep saying,

651

:

Tilly: the day most

652

:

Dan 1: with my

653

:

Tilly: I

654

:

Dan 1: I feed her, Um, Um, I, I

655

:

Tilly: Sorry, if you don't see my arm

moving up and down, it's because I'm

656

:

waving a blanket to try and entertain, so.

657

:

I'm,

658

:

Dan 1: I'm, I'm really bad at trying to

multitask, I need to just be focusing

659

:

on one thing at a time, because I

like to give things my undivided

660

:

attention, while my wife just waves

a blanket and tries to listen to me.

661

:

Tilly: I can do these things.

662

:

I'm a woman.

663

:

And,

664

:

Dan 1: so I had the, the little

things that I do still do is I've,

665

:

I've got a like call for a sort of

startup thing that I'm involved in

666

:

and that just happens once a week.

667

:

And so I was on this call on a

668

:

Tilly: video.

669

:

We

670

:

Dan 1: we were talking about something,

and it was something that actually, that

671

:

kind of required my input, and I just

had, and then I just heard this Pfft,

672

:

Tilly: couldn't believe it.

673

:

And just watched the face flick.

674

:

Which

675

:

Dan 1: and she just kind of

676

:

Tilly: isn't it?

677

:

And then I was

678

:

Dan 1: then I was like, oh

fuck, she hadn't pooed for,

679

:

Tilly: or?

680

:

Dan 1: yeah, I think it had been a

while, I think we were approaching

681

:

the day and a half point.

682

:

Tilly: game.

683

:

Uh, so I just

684

:

Dan 1: And so I just had to quickly

kind of go on mute, spin my laptop

685

:

somewhat, so they could see my body.

686

:

But they obviously couldn't

see what I was doing.

687

:

And so, she managed to have a full

blown poo splosion where it came

688

:

out the front and out the back.

689

:

Tilly: I opened

690

:

Dan 1: then when I opened it up,

691

:

Tilly: a piece

692

:

Dan 1: it looked like fucking sagaloo.

693

:

It was because, with her weaning,

she's eating all these sorts of

694

:

weird things, like, with skins

695

:

Tilly: she can't digest

696

:

Dan 1: pear, she'll eat And she can't

digest the skins, because she can't chew.

697

:

So she doesn't chew these

698

:

Tilly: of skin down.

699

:

Dan 1: Yeah, and so it looks like

sort of that boiled spinach kind

700

:

of stuff, so it looks like she'd

done a big shitty sagaloon in

701

:

Tilly: she had quite a few of them.

702

:

She did one the other day.

703

:

It was when you were doing your creme

brulee, and you gave it to her and

704

:

you didn't realise she'd done a poo.

705

:

So I was giving her a few and

I was like, You're stinky.

706

:

Dan 1: yeah

707

:

Tilly: And the night was like, Oh, okay.

708

:

And it was all, after she'd

given us a mashed blueberries

709

:

the day before or something.

710

:

So it was just full of all It was

just her really roughagey, nappy, Like

711

:

sort of like lots of like What was it?

712

:

Like dark green piss, like liquid

that's soaked into her nappy.

713

:

And then just loads of like roughage,

like fallen leaves in her nappy.

714

:

And it's all bitty and stuck to her arse.

715

:

Dan 1: know.

716

:

Tilly: well.

717

:

Yeah, and,

718

:

Dan 1: Yeah, it looks like, it

also looks a bit like, did you ever

719

:

play on AstroTurf as a teenager?

720

:

Tilly: Yeah, come on, darling.

721

:

At school, the big thing

722

:

Dan 1: schools, it was a big thing

obviously when we were teenagers, they

723

:

were creating AstroTurf everywhere.

724

:

Tilly: No, we had real grass.

725

:

Dan 1: Weird real grass,

726

:

Tilly: And I didn't play any

ball sports, so why else would

727

:

it be on the browser anyway?

728

:

This

729

:

Dan 1: we managed to pitch the

council, all this sort of stuff.

730

:

And so we then ended up partnering with

Wiccan Wanderers to be their sort of

731

:

Tilly: is boring, just carry on.

732

:

Dan 1: Anyway, but, it has

those little rubbery bits.

733

:

And it also had sand in, so it was like

fake grass, with like rubbery bits,

734

:

so it would move like soil under its

735

:

Tilly: the sand

736

:

Dan 1: so that the rubber would move.

737

:

And that used to, like, get in

your socks, and if you're wearing

738

:

shorts, you'd find it in your boxes.

739

:

Not just, not just the sand, but also the

rubber pellets, like tiny rubber pellets.

740

:

That's like it is wiping her nap.

741

:

You'll just wipe, and there'll be,

like, little clumps of, like, little

742

:

brown and black balls, whereas

it used to just be pure liquid.

743

:

Now it's like, it's like,

it's like grit in her shit.

744

:

Tilly: Also what I found happening

now, she isn't technically, but we feed

745

:

her, she gets like a messy mouth and

sometimes I just put a straw on the

746

:

boob because what she wants afterwards,

and I just get that on my boob.

747

:

Dan 1: Which is get

748

:

Tilly: Just smeared food on my boob.

749

:

Yeah.

750

:

But then sometimes like she had

the dried pair and obviously

751

:

that's quite sticky on her face.

752

:

Dan 1: Stick it today

753

:

Tilly: then also like then fluff sticks.

754

:

She came on, she was just

like, like fluffy beard.

755

:

Dan 1: Just know what was it called?

756

:

Tilly: Yeah, a little goatee.

757

:

Dan 1: they'll go

758

:

Tilly: was like a little pear

juice and top fluff goatee.

759

:

With a little bit of dog hair

in it as well for good measure.

760

:

Dan 1: to

761

:

Tilly: Oh yeah.

762

:

Dan 1: what we haven't talked

about Okay, I've dropped my

763

:

low a bit late in the game.

764

:

Dead

765

:

Tilly: Ugh, you've heard

about our rat problem.

766

:

You know, we thought finally

we'd got on top of it.

767

:

Then the other day I was like, our

house is smelling fucking funky.

768

:

And I was like, and you were like, you

didn't notice it for a little while.

769

:

I

770

:

Dan 1: that there was some sort of

771

:

Tilly: like, is it the food bin?

772

:

Dan 1: just willing to move on.

773

:

I was like,

774

:

Tilly: then it got, Um, but it got worse.

775

:

And then I was opening up our like,

Tupperware cupboard, we've all got.

776

:

Dan 1: me while you tell the story?

777

:

Matadors!

778

:

Tilly: and so I found a couple of

those, like, bull What are they called?

779

:

What are the bull people called?

780

:

That's what they are.

781

:

But, obviously, wrong colour.

782

:

Dan 1: I was like, ah,

783

:

Tilly: it up and I was like, that

cupboard is honky, and there's

784

:

no food in that cupboard, so it

shouldn't be a cupboard that smells.

785

:

Dan 1: be

786

:

Tilly: And then other, like, I call them

our downstairs cupboards, so there's

787

:

the cupboards that are on the bottom.

788

:

Also smell, and I was like, there's

nothing in here that would go off.

789

:

I was like, fuck it,

it's a fucking dead rat.

790

:

Dan 1: I

791

:

Tilly: Ugh.

792

:

Gross.

793

:

But tell them you're a genius

way of getting rid of it,

794

:

which makes me go, bleh!

795

:

So I need to speak to

more viewers, actually.

796

:

I was looking at ways to get rid of it.

797

:

So, basically, I then tried to

dig out, but this was my issue.

798

:

So when I first consulted with

the, the, the male role model that

799

:

Dan 1: With the male role

models within our family circle.

800

:

The advice I got was either to

cement holes, or to put poison down.

801

:

I meant to cement the holes, I

never got around to it, because

802

:

Tilly: And

803

:

Dan 1: Yep.

804

:

And or put, and then poison them.

805

:

So I was meant to

806

:

Tilly: do both.

807

:

Dan 1: do both.

808

:

Now, my main rebuttal to

the poison was, But won't

809

:

Tilly: both in

810

:

Dan 1: in our house

811

:

Tilly: And

812

:

Dan 1: the person just sort of

said Oh, no, don't worry about it.

813

:

It'll run off and die somewhere else.

814

:

I was like, no, but they live under

our house We found the holes that are

815

:

buried under our house and we just

kind of didn't really come up with

816

:

anything better Well, I tried to buy

rat traps, but they're incredibly

817

:

sensitive and just keep going off

818

:

Tilly: Those that got chewed

through one of our rat traps.

819

:

Dan 1: But it was a mouse

trap so it wasn't big enough.

820

:

So they're just kind of chewed

through to reach the bait

821

:

Tilly: bait.

822

:

And,

823

:

Dan 1: So, I keep putting this

poison down, and they love

824

:

it, they eat so fucking much

825

:

Tilly: So fucking much love.

826

:

But eventually Yeah, there

827

:

Dan 1: There was a lot of them.

828

:

We knew that they were eventually going

to die somewhere, and unfortunately,

829

:

Tilly: I

830

:

Dan 1: thought that underneath

our, I don't know what the floor

831

:

is in our kitchen extension,

832

:

Tilly: so

833

:

Dan 1: So, they've managed to, uh,

Burrow underneath, I don't think it's

834

:

for, I don't know what it is, and

then you've died under the kitchen

835

:

floor And so we can't reach it

836

:

Tilly: to extract them, and other

837

:

Dan 1: So most people are like, oh just

try and extract it, and then other people

838

:

are like, oh just turn the heating up

And have a really smelly house for a bit

839

:

Tilly: What's going on holiday?

840

:

I

841

:

Dan 1: whole holiday,

and we're not even there.

842

:

This is atrocious!

843

:

And then I came up with a more ingenious

solution, which is Pour maggots down

844

:

Tilly: really not, I'm really just not.

845

:

The one thing that makes me

just, my skin go UGHH is maggots,

846

:

anything sort of maggoty grubby,

it just makes me feel like UGHH, So

847

:

Dan 1: go to a bait shop,

848

:

Tilly: where all the maggots are

849

:

Dan 1: pour the maggots down the

hole because I can't reach there.

850

:

But maggots are really good at smelling

out like rotting flesh and then all

851

:

just nest in there and turn to fly.

852

:

Then people are like, oh well then

you're gonna have a fly problem.

853

:

No, I can seal the cupboards and I

can put loads of fly traps in there

854

:

or I can just try and cover the hole.

855

:

And so what happens.

856

:

The maggots will eat all the dead rat,

they'll turn into flies, they'll fly

857

:

up into the cowboy, and then they'll

stick to those and like, fuck it,

858

:

I'll put a zapper in there, and I can

just keep, bzz bzz bzz, and then all

859

:

Tilly: I

860

:

Dan 1: die,

861

:

Tilly: 5 5, and

862

:

Dan 1: and then that solves the problem.

863

:

Tilly: I don't know, I'm very curious.

864

:

I don't

865

:

Dan 1: I'm very dubious to this, I hope

they're an actual breed, I don't want

866

:

to bring in GM maggots into my house.

867

:

Who knows what that'll

868

:

Tilly: GM maggots.

869

:

I don't know how to do GM maggots.

870

:

I don't know how to do GM maggots.

871

:

I'm sure you

872

:

Dan 1: Sure, you'd prefer

flies to maggots, though.

873

:

My solution, they end

up turning into flies.

874

:

His solution, you will always potentially

have maggots underneath your house.

875

:

Yeah,

876

:

Tilly: I don't like

either solution, darling.

877

:

Dan 1: they're genetically

modified, so they might

878

:

Tilly: How do you know?

879

:

You don't know that you're receiving

880

:

Dan 1: year old maggots.

881

:

They just live there.

882

:

They crawl under your kitchen.

883

:

Tilly: Like cockroaches.

884

:

Dan 1: It'll be a bit like that woman.

885

:

The woman who ate a fly.

886

:

Tilly: Oh god, or they end up

growing to the size of a dog.

887

:

We have like massive

maggots under our house.

888

:

A

889

:

Dan 1: woman who ate a fly, and

then she ate a bird to eat the

890

:

Tilly: proud of.

891

:

Just how it goes.

892

:

How

893

:

Dan 1: How does it go?

894

:

Go on, then.

895

:

Go on,

896

:

Tilly: then.

897

:

Go

898

:

Dan 1: Go on, then.

899

:

Tilly: There wasn't a

woman who swallowed a fly.

900

:

I don't know why she swallowed a fly.

901

:

Perhaps she'll die.

902

:

Dan 1: Perhaps she'll die.

903

:

Tilly: And

904

:

Dan 1: basically to kill the

905

:

Tilly: She swallowed the

spider to eat the fly.

906

:

Brickle and tickle and

tickle and slide her.

907

:

I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

908

:

Perhaps she'll die.

909

:

And then it carries on and on

until she eats like a fucking cow.

910

:

Cow with a lonely

911

:

Dan 1: Because cows are

known for being predators.

912

:

Okay,

913

:

Tilly: and then he came across

this like Family of vampires, but

914

:

they didn't eat people anymore.

915

:

They used to like live off cow blood

So they didn't eat people but then the

916

:

cows became vampire cows and you see

these like cows floating through the air

917

:

of like Vampire teeth and glowing red

eyes I think it was called little, yeah,

918

:

Dan 1: a dream you had.

919

:

Tilly: no, it's not it's a film Back

me up people comment what it's called.

920

:

He was an American guy who came to

England There's a little American kid

921

:

who got moved to England, I think.

922

:

And they came across, like,

this old vampire family.

923

:

And they were like, they

were good guys, but they were

924

:

vampires, they didn't eat people.

925

:

Dan 1: Vampires are always in the Midwest.

926

:

Everyone knows this.

927

:

The US has a real

vampire from the Midwest.

928

:

Trump supporters and vampires.

929

:

That's all who live there.

930

:

Tilly: think they went to Cornwall.

931

:

I don't know, but I

932

:

Dan 1: be fair, yeah, Cornwall.

933

:

I love Cornwall, I'm from Cornwall,

but it's pretty fucking remote.

934

:

That's probably why there's no

trains or anything there, because the

935

:

vampires have been lobbying for it.

936

:

You wanna get here within five hours?

937

:

No.

938

:

Tilly: I feel like it's a lot

939

:

Dan 1: That's true.

940

:

Tilly: sunlight.

941

:

Dan 1: they're probably on

the Isle of Skye or something.

942

:

They're up in,

943

:

Tilly: it's dark for half a year.

944

:

Dan 1: they probably live in Shetland.

945

:

Tilly: cups.

946

:

But can you imagine

947

:

Dan 1: Fluffy cows are hard as a bite.

948

:

Tilly: a vampire highland coup?

949

:

Okay.

950

:

No,

951

:

Dan 1: what else did I want to talk about?

952

:

I think that was it.

953

:

Okay.

954

:

Did we have anything?

955

:

There was something that was

on my mind, but never mind.

956

:

Yeah, so, I think that might

957

:

Tilly: Alright.

958

:

So, stay tuned for more

ramblings next week.

959

Adios
